Welcome! I am so glad that you are here.
I’m Hope – a wife and mom in the suburbs of Chicago, a perpetual student of Catholic theology, and a teacher- turned – campus minister and (sort of) a writer. This lovely picture from years ago clearly cropped out my friend Emily. (Sorry, Emily! Photo credit to Emily’s brilliant mom, Cathy!)
I began “Our Sacrifice of Praise” to share my thoughts on living lives of faith in the midst of our beautiful and heartbreaking world. You’ll find my musings here spanning vocation, Scripture, music, liturgy, literature, current events, sacramental life and historical theology — all mixed in with stories and anecdotes about how I hope God is at work in the world and in family life. (If that sounds like I don’t yet know my niche, you aren’t half wrong, but then again, a liberal arts education was supposed to help us think well across disciplines, wasn’t it?)
I hope that you will share yourself with me, so that together we can offer our life’s “sacrifice of praise” to God in all the seasons of life.
“Then hear, O gracious Savior,
Accept the love we bring,
That we who know your favor
May serve you as our king;
And whether our tomorrows
Be filled with good or ill,
We’II triumph through our sorrows
And rise to bless you still:
To marvel at your beauty
And glory in your ways,
And make a joyful duty
Our sacrifice of praise.”
